MAUN Knows No Barriers: Empathy Through Sport UNIDES Project Successfully Completed
Our UNIDES project, titled “MAUN Knows No Barriers: Empathy Through Sport,” conducted by the Exercise and Sports Community for People with Disabilities, has been successfully completed. Within the scope of the project, the aim was to foster empathy among children towards individuals with disabilities, leveraging the unifying and transformative power of sport, and to improve understanding of differences and gain an inclusive perspective.
Throughout the event, participants had the opportunity to experience the difficulties faced by individuals with disabilities more closely through various sporting activities and experience-based events; thus, social awareness, solidarity, and a culture of coexistence were strengthened. It was once again demonstrated that sport contributes not only to physical development but also to social adaptation, understanding, and empathy.
This project created significant awareness among children regarding equality, sensitivity, and understanding; and demonstrated that sport is a powerful common ground that brings differences together.
We would like to thank our community advisor, Research Assistant [Name], for their contributions to the realization of our project. We would like to thank Şevval Akaydın, our student community, stakeholders, participants, and everyone who provided support.
